After reading yesterdays blog, “Emmanuel” you may be saying, “if Jesus is at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us, then how can He still be Emmanuel on earth?” Well that is a great question! Allow me by the mercies of Christ to explain to you deeper.
In John 14 we find Christ speaking to those He loved. He was explaining that He had a task to do while on earth, and the only way that task could be fulfilled was through death. But He also explained that He would be raised again. Then He started speaking to them and explaining that after this task was complete, He would be leaving, and going back to set with the Father. But then He says this in verse 18, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Now He had just finished speaking of how He would pray to the Father, and He would send them a Comforter, that He (the Comforter) may be with them always. Now as most know, that Comforter was and is the Holy Ghost, that has been sent to be with us. Now you must understand that this Holy Ghost is the third being in the Godhead. There is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. Three beings, forming one Godhead. Now it is very important for us to understand that they are not jealous of one another. No! They all three work hand in hand with each other. Now the task of the Holy Ghost is, in short, to show us the image of Christ deeper.
So I have said all that to say this… Christ is still Emmanuel (God with us) today, but… He that characteristic of Him is only made know through and by the Holy Ghost. Not the gift of the Holy Ghost so to speak, but the operation of the Holy Ghost in general. Christ made us a promise here in this verse… He said “I will come to you.” Now He comes to us through the Holy Ghost that came on the day of Pentecost. It is up to us if we desire to see Emmanuel deeper. We do have a way. For He is still being made known… as God with us.
