Exchange Your Strength
Isaiah 40:31, “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength”
After many days of spiritual warfare, one has a tendency to become restless with waiting on God to overcome. But there is always a lesson we must learn in every battle. One of the hardest lessons to learn in battle, and just in everyday life, is that of totally resigning one’s strength to the Lord. It is so hard not to fight with your own strength and methods of victory, and to completely say in words and actions, “Lord your total will be done through me.”
Looking at the text given above, oftentimes we interpret this as if the writer is saying that God will just make our strength greater, and renew us with more fierceness to fight. But, upon further study I found that the word ‘renew’ literally means to ‘change, or exchange’. Now seeing this, we understand a mighty truth. We don’t become stronger in ourselves, but we literally exchange our strength, for the strength of God Almighty. This is a very profound truth, beloved. In every battle, through every storm, in everything we do, we are to literally surrender our strength, our total way, for the strength and total ways of God. This should be no task, beloved, but rather a joy! For what is our strength compared to the strength of Almighty God? Think about it. Every trial, every battle, everything we go through, is to produce in us the strength of God. And all we have to do, is just keep waiting, and trusting in Gods unchangeable word. Listen close now, God never called us to produce a victory… He simply called us to trust Him to do it through us, and for us. But we must exchange our strength, for His. We must literally let Him live through us. And by so doing, we will live in total victory, through Him. Hallelujah! What a promise!! I encourage myself in the Lord today with these words! Just keep trusting! Just keep your focus on God! Gladly exchange your strength for His, and let Him live through you, His total life.
