The following is a short prayer that I found myself praying recently. See if you can identify along with me.
“Lord, show me myself how you see me. Pull the cover off of my unknown wickedness, so I may see you greater.”
Have you ever prayed such a prayer, dear friend? I believe we must sometimes ask God to show us ourselves how He sees us. It is easy for us to see ourselves in all that we do for Christ, but often we are greater in our own mind than we truly are in Gods sight. I want to know myself as He knows me. By this I can better worship this great Christ in a deeper, more pure way. I want Him to pull the cover off of all my innermost man. I desire Him to shine His Light of Love, in every deep corner of my heart. By this, anything that is unlike Him may be found, and removed. I don’t want any spiders, nor cobwebs in the corners of my heart. I want Him to expose me to myself. This is a request that is only for those that truly wish to come to know God in a more passionate way of fellowship. For before we can see God in any deep way, we must see ourselves in our shallow condition.
I ask you, beloved, will you ask God to pull the cover off of your inner man? Will you allow God to expose the clutter under the secret cover? Will you request Him to shine His Spotlight of Love into the very depth of your heart and soul? The greater question is this, do you really want to know Him deeper? For He is Light, and the only way we can come to know Him in fullness, is to pull the unknown cover off of our very innermost man, and allow Him to search us, and mold us more into His likeness. I challenge you, Christian, to ask Christ to expose you as you are, and to pull the secret cover off, that you may have grander fellowship together.
