I Called ...Part 1

A couple days ago, I was texting a wonderful friend, and I was telling her that I was about to call, so we could talk directly instead of through text. But when I called, it went right into voicemail, so I figured she was out of service area, and I sent her a simple text saying, “I called”. Many hours later, after we had already finished our conversation on the phone, she was receiving the same message over and over again, as if there was a glitch in the message that was making it send a repeated amount of times. As the message kept coming, she began to think upon those words, “I called”. A few moments later, she wrote me in extreme joy, and told me that God was speaking to her through this glitch in her phone. And as she shared with me the thoughts God laid upon her heart, there came to me this very writing. So I will be building off of her thoughts, and off of the words, “I called”.

Matthew 22:14, “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Mark 13:36, “Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.”
I have chosen these two texts today that may seem off topic for a while, but hold with me cause we are going somewhere with God.

July 19th, 2007, a little over a week after my 15th birthday, I received a call that would change my life forever. This is the day that God Almighty, ..called my name. God called my name, I picked up on the direct line with Christ, and answered, “here I am Lord, forgive me of my sins, and take me if you want me, because I sure want you.” But as we can read in our first text the words of Christ saying, “many are called.” I am not the only one that was called by God. In this particular passage of scripture Christ is dealing with those called to the marriage supper, so we are dealing with those that have been invited to meet Christ. Upon reading that parable there, you can find where everyone was called to come. This means that there was a open invitation. But, there was first a requirement. You had to be ready for the wedding, and you had to wear the right clothes. At the end of this parable Christ says that all those that were without the wedding garment on, would be thrown into outer darkness, meaning they would not be living in the Light of Christ. Can I tell you, beloved, many are called by God today. There is a sound going across the land this day, “Come unto me” but o so many will set on the pew, and turn a deaf ear to Gods pleading call. They turn their head the other way, as they try and make their mind think of something else. They are called, but they will not heed. Or sometimes they choose to hear the call, but they refuse to wear the right garments. To wear such a garment would mean to lay aside “fun” ways of flesh. They don’t want to be bothered with the garment of Christ, for that means they would have to give up friends. They would have to give up old ways. They would have to give up dreams. Only thinking of the here and now, and never concerned about the then and there, they then will choose to turn a deaf ear to the call of God. Beloved, to live a Christian life, you must wear the life of Christ as your garment. Just as a police officer will wear a badge, so will a Christian wear Christ. Many are called!! But o so few are chosen. The only reason few are chosen is simply because they refuse to live the life of Christ. They refuse to die out to sin and flesh. Yes, they want to go to Heaven, but they want to make it with their own clothes on. They want to make it by their own methods, their own way. But Christ words still ring true, many are called but few are chosen!!

Christ has called some of you in times past, that are reading this now, and the only words you can hear in your heart ringing so loud and clear are, … “I called.”

Beloved, if you have ignored the call of Christ, answer Him now. Don’t wait any longer. Lay your life aside, put on the wedding garment, and be truly born again.

….to be continued…
