The Upper Room Life
The Upper Room experience of Pentecost was never made obtainable without first the Cross experience of Calvary. We often separate the two messages way too much. The only purpose for the death on Calvary was for the Life on Pentecost. O how we must obtain this again today in our hearts. So many times we hear that Christ came to save sinners, and although this statement is true, it is only half of the plan of Salvation. Christ did not die to only save sinners and bring them to a mere religious position, but He saves sinners to fill them with His literal life in the Spirit. Understanding that death had to first come before the Holy Spirit could fill a life in the Upper Room, we should also understand that we must also come to our place of death to flesh before our Upper Room experience can become personal in our lives. A life that is lived in the Spirit must be dead to all self and “hid with Christ in God.” Let us not feel ourselves as living in the fullness of the born again experience without living in the fullness of the Upper Room experience. Let us not see ourselves as completely whole without being filled with the Spirit. For a body that has no breath is a dead body before long. It is absolutely vital for the blood washed soul to press on to the filling of the Holy Spirit. And not only is it vital to press to the filling point, but it is even more imperative for us to continually live a life in the Spirit. We must have an Upper Room experience over and over again. This Upper Room Life will never last long without the death to flesh. We must die… so He may live through us. Beloved, we must live an Upper Room Life continually to be fully pleasing to God.
