Matthew 6:34, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
These words of Christ ever ring true in my heart this day, cutting me to the core of my soul. Conviction overcomes my life as I think about the volume of such words. Christ gives me such a comforting in the previous verses before, and yet in the way that only Christ can do He brings me to a place of humble conviction by the end of the chapter. He speaks of how much love the Father has for us, and how we should only seek Him and His ways, and all the cares of life will be taken care of by Him… if we trust Him. Then, in the text given above, closing out chapter 6 of Matthew, Christ sums up what His loving command is by in essence saying, “Don’t worry about your tomorrows. I see your dreams, I know you have desires, I know you’ve made plans… but don’t seek your ways first. Seek my Father, by living my life through the Holy Spirit in Grace by Faith. Stop worrying about your future… just leave it in my care. When a dream walks away… realize it is for your better… and that I will never take away, but always add. I know you are planning for a big tomorrow… I realize how much your heart is set on dreams and goals and things for then, but you are worrying too much. Give me all your tomorrow. Not just a few hours of it, but all. I cannot bless your ways, unless you lay your ways down and pick up mine. Take the cares of today, and through me… you will come out in victory in every battle. Tomorrow you can handle the problems of that day by my Grace, but today just worry about one thing… seeking me. And when tomorrow comes, I will reassure you of these same words. Just seek me, beloved… and stop worrying about your tomorrow.”
Dear soul, seek Him in all His ways first and allow Him to reign, and tomorrow will be taken care of along with today. Stop worrying when things come along that may change your future because; if you are living His life and allowing Him to take care of you… He will never allow anything to come that is not for your best interest. So believe! And stop worrying about tomorrow, and be concerned about seeking Him first… today.
