Jehovah-Jireh

As Abraham walked up the mountain with his promised son by his side, going to offer up to God the request God desired, the boy looked at Abraham and said, “I see the wood, I see the fire… but where is the sacrifice?” (see Genesis 22). Abraham believing God at His word said, “son, God will provide for us a sacrifice.”

You know the story about how Abraham went all the way at God’s request, and God let Abraham get as far as raising the knife if the air… ready to plunge it into his son for the sacrifice… but God stepped in at the last second as Jehovah-Jireh.

Beloved, has God has asked something almost impossible for you to naturally do? Has He asked you to overcome a situation that is humanly impossible for you to do? Beloved, realize that He never will allow you to fail and He never will hurt you. He made you a promise… and He will keep it. Just trust Him… for He is revealing Himself to you in a way you have never known as Jehovah-Jireh, that is to say “The Self Existing Provider.”

God who was never formed or fashioned, nor who knows a begging to Himself now lives in you… and when He seemingly calls us to these places where it is sure death to the promise in our eyes… just hold faith for He is allowing you to come to know Him more intimately. He wants you to depend on Him… not just the promise He made to you. He wants you to love Him promise or none. He wants to show Himself to you as the Total Provision for your every care. He will “provide a ram in a thicket” and work a work that only He can every time you allow Him… but you must have faith. So wherever you are with Him now… He wants you to allow Him to be your Provider… and that requires your hope in anything other than God Himself to be sentenced to death. Don’t worry about the promise… He made it He will keep it, just wait on the Lord and come to know Him as Jehovah-Jireh for He is All you need.
