Our Mistakes & God's Plan

Have you ever tried to go just one week being a perfect person? How did that go for you? I know that every day we are to wake up and give it our best shot but there is just no possible way we will always do everything totally perfect. I was always under the impression that I could somehow reach this spiritual perfection by myself, but the more I would attempt to soar with the eagles I would find myself sitting with the ducks. Jumping from my spiritual branch with wings opened wide I would fly a few seconds only to spin into a nosedive and land a perfect belly flop in the muddy waters of my flesh below. Yeah, on the subject of mistakes I unfortunately know my fare share.
On our way home from our Honeymoon in the Smokie Mountain’s in Gatlinburg Tennessee, my Bride and I stopped at a bible bookstore. We somehow managed to scrape up enough money to buy one of my all-time spending weaknesses; another bible. This time it was no ordinary bible though, of course they never are to me, but it happened to be a bible for the married couples. We decided to simply start at the beginning since we are at the beginning of our lives together. Midway through Genesis now we both see so clearly at how gracious our God truly is to mere humankind. Upon seeing such mistakes and shortcomings in the men and women that the New Testament calls “Men and Women of Faith” we are forced to understand that our God is so full of mercy. To read stories of such mighty men and women of faith that staggered not at the promises of God, but yet somehow always showed themselves to simply be human just as you and I. I mean some of the greatest men as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. These men at times lied, cheated, and even sometimes stole what wasn’t truly theirs. God had made them a promise, and He had a plan that was built upon these falling vessels. At some points these men and women would even jeopardize the total plan of God, but God would spare them without them even knowing. He knew their mistakes, but yet He spared them and loved them with everlasting love.
Beloved, maybe you have been failing the Lord and do not feel worthy enough to come to Him anymore. If this be you then take courage in this devotional thought today. Yes we all fail and fall short of the glory God truly deserves, but dear reader, He is God, and God is Everlasting Love. He will never fail you. He has made you a promise just as He did to Abraham and He will fulfill that promise in and through you if you will simply return back to Him each time you fall. There is no shame in falling, only in staying down. Get back up in Jesus. God forgives our honest mistakes and will still perform His mighty plan. There is no mistake of ours bigger than our God. Please… just have faith in His everlasting Grace.

The Wife’s Note: Just a Hello
My name is Kirsten (formally a Shiver) but I am now a Riddell. Buddy and I just got married about 2 weeks ago.  I was born in Birmingham, AL, but was raised in Birmingham and a small placed called Brundidge/Jack Alabama. Buddy and I actually met at my church in Jack Alabama. Buddy has asked that I post something along with him each time he posts and I have agreed to do so. Hopefully, we will get the blog spot situated in a way where I will have a certain section for you to go to, but for now it will be attached with Buddy’s at the bottom of his blog each Monday and Friday. Just wanted to let you all know how the blog spot will be changing and introduce myself. God Bless
