Hebrews 12:2 (King James Version)

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(My View)

I previously stated, “ it is crucial that we enter into deeper understanding, faith and Holiness.” And the same statement goes for verse 2 as well. But even I sometimes wonder how this can be better obtained. So to better understand verse 2, we should summarize verse 1 again.

What we should remember about verse 1-
1. We as individuals should realize we represent the whole body of believers.
2. We should lay aside, kill and permanently turn away from all and every sin that we allow to linger in our lives.
3. We should run with patience the course of our life that is set in front of us, so we can be a brighter testimony of His Grace and Holiness.

(The Breakdown)

So now we must look away from all that will hinder (take our mind and eyes off Christ), and take firm control of our mind and fasten our eyes steadily on Christ Jesus, always looking unto Him for all guidance. For He is the Author and the Finisher, the Creator (the Cause and Substance), and the Perfect Completion of our faith, being the Supreme Example, (always bringing us into deeper understanding and maturity in Him.) For He considered us, and seen through all suffering and ignored all shame, to find joy in taking up the cross and becoming the Final Offering for ALL sin, and to be raised again as the Eternal High Priest that now is seated at the right hand of the Throne Of God, (where He pleads the case on our behalf.)

(Last Thought)

The call to be holy and to look unto Christ and have deep faith is one that is unavoidable. We all as Christians must look away from fleshly wants and bring our focus on Him at the right hand of the Father. And yes at times this may be difficult, but just think for a moment, the Holy Son Of God looked at the shame and pain of the cross, and ignored it all and seen us.
