Oftentimes we get weary of the trials we face on our spiritual walk with Christ. We stand until we feel we cannot stand any longer, only to hear the call to stand on. Beloved, I know at times the last thing you want to hear is another “hold on a little longer” message, but this is my heart for you. I have a verse for all those that are in the midst of confusion, and at the end of their rope. Psalm 27:14, Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
This is just a simple thought, but filled with so much truth. Beloved, the beauty of the blessing… only comes from the period of waiting on the Lord. What the psalmist is saying here to us is simply this “ wait on the Lord!! When you are tired in battle, wait on the Lord. When you have stood your last second, wait on the Lord. When your strength seems to have failed you, wait on the Lord. When your legs crumble beneath you, wait on the Lord. Wait!! Wait!! Wait on the Lord!!”
So again I, the reason the psalmist commands us to wait on the Lord is because he knew that the greatness of each blessing comes from the waiting period. See in this verse he states “be of good courage.” Now the Hebrew for that means to be strong! To not faint! It all ties right back to the opening words… wait on the Lord. But then a promise comes!! After you wait upon the Lord, and after you keep from fainting… the Lord will strengthen your heart. Understand beloved, you must wait!! For the strength of the Lord ONLY comes to them that wait. Always remember this… the beauty of the blessing… comes from the waiting of the test!
