Search Me

Psalm 139:1, “O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.”

Here in this verse given, upon study I found a simple, yet wonderful truth. The word used here for searched simply means, “to search the earth by boring or digging, as for water or metals.” It also means, “to penetrate; or, to examine intimately.” How beautiful of a thought! The Creator of the galaxies, has searched the psalmist, King David, and has known Him.

Beloved, God doesn’t want to simply search this one man. No! He desires to search us all. Let me explain to you, what I feel this searching truly is, by the definitions given to us above. I believe the Lord Almighty, is literally, constantly digging in the earth of our heart. He is hunting for something so very valuable! And I believe this is a search taking place, in every soul in the world. He is simply searching for Gold.

All throughout the bible, anywhere the word gold was mentioned, unless otherwise stated, is also a meaning of God. So I believe God is searching, and digging deep into every mans heart, just searching for how much Gold is in there.

How much Christ is in your life? When God searches your heart, will He find any Gold at all? Will He look and see an absolute Gold infested mine? Or will He just find a bunch of pebbles of flesh? Or something of no great value? Wouldn’t you love to be a Gold filled person? Where when God Almighty searches your heart, He wont even have to turn one hand of heart-dirt, to see the mounds of Gold within you? I would! The deeper you live in Christ… the more He lives in you.

The second definition given is, “to penetrate; or, to examine intimately.” Dearly Beloved, this goes deeper than Him knowing us… this is where we must also come to know Him. Here we see a picture of God searching, with such a deep love. This is where He monitors our every thought, all our actions, to intimately know us. See, it goes further than just seeing if you know Him, weather you do or don’t, He literally is saying, “I must penetrate through this mass mess of confusion! For I want this soul to find me searching them, and studying them, simply because I am in love with them.”

The last thing I want to say is this, does God know you? I am not saying, does He know who you are. I am saying, have you given Him that deep personal side? The part that you try to hide! He already knows all about it, but to know you, means “to have a intimate relationship.” To come to the place where, you take off all masks, and say, “here I am, totally. No more pretending Lord. Now you know me, because I no longer hide from you.”

Today, look within yourself, and see how God is searching you. He already understands you deeper than you understand yourself, but let Him search you deeper and deeper. And come closer to Him, by allowing Him to know you totally.
Ask yourself, “can I say with King David, “O lord, thou hast searched me,… and known me.”?
