In studying out the characters of the Song of Solomon, we find a few simple facts about this Shulamite Bride. Which is a representation of our separate individual life with Christ our King. In these next few paragraphs, we will be dealing with the life before she was with the King, and after she was with the King. Lets see how close her story is compared to ours, before Christ and after.
One… she was found with Grace. The King found this Shulamite, when everyone else would have given up on her. She was a worker with the men. She was nasty. She was driven by the task master of flesh (Satan). But she found Grace… in the eyes of the King. She was rough to look upon at first. She worked with the men, she was burnt from the sun, she was broken! Until Grace took her in. When the King found her, he brought her back to the palace. When she had been giving clothes, (clothes of righteousness) and fine jewels (the blessings from Christ our King), she was noted for her distinct beauty. You must understand that this beauty is not of her own. It is the beauty of the King. For our life, when lived in Him, is made beautiful and clean. Only until after she had found Grace in the sight of her King was she brought into true beauty.
Number two… she was bought with a price. She was sold to the King. And the King paid the price just for her. (The payment our King Jesus made for us on Calvary)
Number three… she could have been remembered as the loveliest Bride upon earth. She could have been very popular with the world outside the palace. But she wasn’t. She had to become willing to stay under command of her King. And this she must have done. For we never even know her name. “Well why is this?” Well one reason is, because she didn’t want to be seen, but she wanted everyone to see her King! The one that loved her, and the one she loved. And the second reason is, because the Bride of Christ has never been given a name yet. For when we become born again, we take on the name of Christ. For it is Him that we show through our lives. That new name will not come until we fully “overcome”. That simply means until the day we see our Savior face to face, or until this earthly race is finished. (see Revelation 2:17)
Number four… a Shulamite is one that is from the holy city Jerusalem. Jerusalem was at one time called Salem. And a Shulamite is one from Salem (or later on called Jerusalem). So I am simply saying this… to be a Shulamite, is to be a “fellow-citizen of the saints, and of the household of God,” We are no longer bound to the slave owner of the world. But we have been brought to the finest place in Christ,… our Kings Holy Place (when becoming born again). Making us a joint part of the church.
Number five… she was made a total partaker of everything that her King owned. She had access to all of it. By our King… we have access to the Father. We have access to the blessings of God. We may live in total peace, and love… just as the Shulamite.
