As I was searching through the Holy scriptures last night, studying and praying on what to write for today, I found such a beautiful verse, one in which I had never heard before. Psalms 94: 19, “In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”
As I read this beautiful portion of scripture, I felt an amazing freshness enter into my soul. So I began to study it deeper, to grasp the full meaning of the original writing, and here is some of the simple, but still yet powerful truths I found.
In essence, the psalmist is saying, “in the middle of a chaotic jungle of thoughts, (when thoughts of despair came racing through my mind. And thoughts of loneliness, and thoughts of pain. Thoughts of shame, and guilt. Thoughts of uncertainty, and confusion. When thoughts of the pressures of life, was taking over my mind.) the thought of you came to mind. In this time of a mess of thoughts crashing in, like a fierce ocean tide, the thought of who you are, came to remembrance. In this chaotic time, the thought of what you have done, rested on my mind. And also the thought of what you will do before me, in my future, was once again remembered. And as these thoughts of you came, my soul found true comfort. I was delighted, excited and brought to peace of mind, when the thought of you came, O Lord!”
Beloved, in your time of overwhelming thoughts, think on Him! And you to say, as the psalmist, “I found peace, when my mind was in turmoil! But, O Lord, it was only at… the thought of you.”
