For Me To Live Is Chirst

In the book of Philippians, the first chapter, at the twenty-first verse, we read one of the greatest statements ever made by the Apostle Paul. In this verse we see the key to the life of Paul, and the reason for the success of his ministry. He said, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

While these great words was being uttered, Paul was in a dingy, cold, damp prison in Rome. But still yet, this man of God had some kind of a Holy joy in his heart! He realized the importance of his statement. He was in essence saying this, “because I am alive in this world… Christ will also always be alive. And not only alive, but seen through me in this world, as long as I am alive. For I no longer live the life of Paul, but I literally live the life of Christ! And although if I was to die in the physical I would gain, it matters not when I go, for I am already living a Heavenly life, on earth.”

Beloved, how great! Paul had learned the secret of oneness with Christ! He could say, “my life is not at all mine! I live the life of Christ! Where I am… Christ is! What I say… Christ is saying through me! My flesh has been crucified, and I am no longer alive. My will, my ways, and my wants have been put to death. And by that death of flesh, Christ is made alive through me. He is literally living His Heavenly life through my earthly body!”

Dear Christian, can you stop for a second and ask yourself, “can I say these words of Paul? Can I honestly say for me to live is for Christ to live through me?” Beloved, are you living your life? Are you saying what you want to say? Are you going where you want to go? Doing whatever you think is best? Or have you died to you, and started living in this deeper oneness with Christ? Don’t dare think it was only for the Apostle Paul, or even just the early church… this is for you as well. We must get to the place where we are literally living the life of Christ. Where He is speaking through us, and that wherever we are… He is. We must realize… we are all called to live the life of Christ, beloved. We are all called to die to our ways, and be one with Christ. We must be able to say along with Paul, “It’s not about me, it’s all about Him being made alive through me! For to me to live… is for Christ to live.”
