Sometimes life gets tough. The pathway may even seem as though it has led us away from Christ. Why would these rough times be allowed to come upon a believer of Jesus? Well, beloved, after going through some of those rough times myself, God showed me the answer. I have mentioned this same idea many times before in previous writings, but I feel to share it again today.
The Lord allows us to go through rough times, so He can produce in us a greater view of Himself to this dying world. He uses trials to make us less in love with this world, and more in love with Him. If you have ever prayed the prayer, “Lord, I want you!” Or, “Use me for your glory!” Or, “Let me be near you!” Any prayer asking to be drawn nearer to Him, He has to put our flesh through a dying period, so that everything unlike Him is made to crumble. He doesn’t do this to hurt us. He doesn’t do this to be mean. He does this to find someone faithful, and in love with Him. And the end result from going through such things, is ultimately being brought closer to Him.
You say, “well I don’t feel any closer than before I went in this trial.” That’s where you must have faith, and praise. Let me provoke you to praise. One thing that God loves more than a faithful person, is one that will praise Him at the same time, even when praise seems to be the last thing to do. Praise Him that He sees you worthy to be brought closer to Him. You can always find a reason to praise. Just hold on to this statement, “It pays… to praise.” God will always reward the faithful heart over and above what they deserve. So if you are in a trial, left your head up and thank Him! Because this statement is true.. “It Pays… to Praise!”
