The Shepherds Embrace

Song of Solomon 2:6, “His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.”
How lovely this portrait is to all that are born again believers. Throughout the journey of the Christian, there comes a time when it seems as if the Shepherd has forgotten us, his humble sheep, and left us alone in the valley of deaths shadow. Times such as these come to all believers throughout the course of one’s life. It seems as though Christ has left us standing without a ray of hope, in a place unknown to us. We stand pleading as a frightened lamb. Searching for the Good Shepherd, we cry “Jesus… where are you? Please don’t leave me here. I need you now, Lord.” It is through these times that the Good Shepherd is teaching His sheep that He cares for them. He is teaching us to trust Him. I believe it is through these times that we often become weak, and began to lie down from exhaustion. Fear brings upon us great amounts of pressure, and we at these times consider going back from where we came. But I also believe that to those that wait, and trust God, this becomes a time of great celebration. For it is in these times of despair that we come to the realization we can’t make it on our own. We continually need a Savior to live His life through us. It is in these times that Christ comes, and with both His nail scarred hands picks us up, and holds us in His arms. He holds us just a loving mother would her baby, placing His mighty left hand of love under our head, while holding us with his right arm. O’ how grand to be held in the arms of the Great Shepherd.

All doubts are driven away, while in His arms we humbly stay.
Content feeling His warm hug near, this joy conquers all past known fears.
Hands so strong, yet filled with Grace,
There is love, in the Good Shepherds embrace.

Beloved, if you are in the valley of the shadow of death now, and feel that Christ nowhere around, just hold faith, and wait for the Good Shepherds embrace.
