He Plucked Us Out

In the book of Galatians, chapter one, we read Paul’s salutation to the Churches of Galatia. 1:3-4, “Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.” This seems as if a normal welcoming, and many times as we read we overlook the true authority these words say to us as believers.

Paul was writing the book of Galatians to a sect of people that had fallen from the Grace of Christ, and moved to works of the law as trying to be justified. The main message throughout Galatians is in essence to walk in the fullness of the New Covenant by walking in the Grace of Christ’s redemptive work, and to live continually in the Holy Spirit. And in this letter greeting Paul is saying both as a significant thing that we must grasp to walk in the fullness of Christ’ New Covenant work.

“Grace and Peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ” is how Paul starts to enter into the heavy message he was about to deliver. The phrase “Who gave Himself for our sins” literally is once more reminding us of the true reason Christ had to come. He left all of Heaven to come and take upon Himself, our curse of sin, and to die upon a cross. He did such a thing “that He might deliver us from this present evil world.” Now this is where the message starts to speak in volumes. Upon study I found this phrase to mean much more than the already great thought of Christ dying to “deliver us”. Paul was literally saying this in the original writing, “that He may pluck us out of this present world”. Wow! When I read that my heart began to shout with joy! Think of what this verse is truly saying, beloved. By Christ becoming a curse for us, and taking our sin to the cross, and raising on the third day, He literally pulled, all that will believe on Him and give their lives to Him, out of this present world of prevailing gross darkness. Now, the beauty of that is this, He plucked us out of this world of flesh …and brought us to a place in His Heavenly world. I am saying that, although we do walk in this world around us in a human body, Christ has made a way for us to here and now live in His Heavenly world spiritually. This is place of the heart that lives unhindered by the failures of flesh, and by the elements of the surrounding life. So much emphasis goes on the Heavenly world to come nowadays, but Christ made a way for us to walk in a Heavenly arena here and now. Not many people are walking in this resting place anymore, simply because the message has been silenced.

Now, once more sowing up the point of our text, for Christ to pluck us out of this world, He would have to put us in another world, and just that He does, by bringing us into His world. Listen closely now, Christ’s work of redemption has brought us to the opportunity of living in Heavenly places while on earth, but it is only after receiving, and by continually walking in the Holy Spirit that we remain able to live in such a place. To live in Heavenly arenas means to live a life that is trusting, and found in the perfection of God. Beloved, this is only possible by walking in the Spirit. So let us rejoice in knowing that Christ’s work on the cross literally has brought us to live as Heavenly beings, but it is the Holy Spirit that makes us live. We are made as Christ is when we take upon us His nature, so God Almighty sees us as His Son, and by continually walking in the Holy Ghost we are always found fully furnished in the perfection of Christ, and allowed graciously to walk in Heavenly arenas. O’ such a thought should make us all rejoice! Be glad in your heart and praise Him, for this is “the will of God and our Father.” Amen!
