Over the past few weeks the Lord has been dealing with me on the topic of myself. It seems as a comical statement I realize, but He has been showing me that in many areas that I didn’t see I have made it about me. He has been making it real that even though I pray certain prayers that most wouldn’t think anything of if I prayed out loud, I’ve been praying a lot from a blinded selfish heart. It isn’t that I prayed these prayers out of blatant selfishness, no. For it was unknown to my heart at those times. But God being the Graceful Master that He is over time has brought me to realizing that I have placed way too much emphasis on my wants with Him, more than His wants with me. He has been showing me that my main prayer I have been praying over the past few weeks, (which has been, “Lord, fill me with your Spirit) although seemingly isn’t wrong, has been from a selfish motive. He is making me face the fact that I have desired to be filled a lot for my own self. He has showed me that the only begging pray I need to pray about myself is “Lord, hide my life with you in the Father by the Holy Spirit, so you may be seen and the Father may be pleased.”
Beloved, do you live this Christian life for yourself? Do you love out of a selfish manner? Do you desire spiritual gifts that you may be exalted? Most of professing Christianity today is built upon a selfish desire. Some profess Christ that they may skip hell, while others serve Him with less obvious selfish intentions. Whatever you do, do it for Him. Don’t let the society around you that speaks so loudly in your face that “it’s all about you and its okay to be that way” become a part of your Christian life. It isn’t about you. Christ didn’t give His life just so you can be pleased (although those that find their hope and life in Christ live the most pleasing life, even when natural things are absent, for those that hope in Him find love and joy in His life, and His life only) but Christ came to make you a vessel. You are to be His body. A body is nothing more than a vehicle in which a desire is made alive. Now we are the body of Christ, which simply means that we only carry out His desires. Let us come to perfection as He has called us, by taking the emphasis off of ourselves, and placing them on Him. The weak Christian says “me”. The stronger Christian says “me and Christ”. The perfected Christian says “It’s Christ and Christ alone”. Let us move further into perfection in all points, that we may come to nought and He may be pleased and made alive. Lay aside the “me” life, and make it the “He” life.
Colossians 3:3, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

So true that we need to move self out of the way and not ask for what we want, but what Christ wants for us.
