God will never depart from the true Believer and the true Believer, though he at many times fall will never depart from God. You cannot believe and forsake God at the same time while still being a Christian, and God will always hear the prayer of a Believer and will never forsake them. By realizing this we see that the greatest thing we as Christians can do is believe. Believe God in all His word, His ways, in everything He does, just believe.
We read a verse in the New Testament scriptures that we oftentimes let slip through our spiritual fingers or either misunderstand its true meaning. This verse is Mark 9:23, which Jesus says, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” Either we misuse this great word from God, or let it slip right by us by making Him to small. When we think we can use this verse to believe God for new houses, boats, cars and to obtain worldly possessions, then that is when we misuse these words of Christ. Christ isn’t speaking about believing to obtain worldly possession. He is speaking of obtaining Gods total will.
Let’s look where Christ speaks these words of promise. Mark 9:20-22, “And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, how long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, of a child. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.” We see a man coming to Jesus that deeply needs a spiritual miracle in His family. This man has come to Jesus for his hell bound son. He comes to Jesus begging, “If you can do anything like the people say you can… then you can surly have compassion on my family, and help my boy!” Jesus always looks for the heart of sincerity, and the heart of faith. He cannot answer any man that does not pray in such a manner. He sees this in this man that is coming to Him, and He gives a simple, but yet very powerful statement that can change our lives forever if we allow it. He says, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” He is in essence saying, “You have come to me with this request, more than you want your need met… I want to meet it. All you have to do is believe! Believe that I can! Believe that if it is my Fathers will, I can perform it! Just believe me! Believe that I am the Son of the Living God! Believe that my thoughts are His thoughts, and His actions are my actions! Believe that there is none greater, none stronger, none smarter and that all things bow at my feet! Believe that your enemies are already defeated through my life! If you will just believe me to work His will in your life… then every situation is possible for me to shine in overcoming victory through you. If you will just believe… obtaining the impossible will of God in your natural life, will become possible by me!”
Beloved, when we need to obtain the will of God in our life… let us just believe Christ to obtain and work that will in, through and for us by His Holy Spirit. Let our prayer be as this humble mans prayer found in verse 24, “And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” At this point, this man has reached a place with God that prevails against all spiritual odds. Let this prayer be our prayer, “Lord, if thou will… do thy will… for I believe, but help my unbelief!” Beloved, “all things are possible to him that believeth.” Just believe!
