Standing In The Shallows

God is calling you to the deep, why do you still stand in the shallows? Don’t you feel the call to move forward in Him? Are you content living where you are right now spiritually? Beloved, I am fully persuaded that God intends for no one to live the shallow Christian life. Many sense the call of Christ to “come unto me” and desire to live the life in fellowship with the Savior, but the deep life requires a deep price. We stand in the shallow waters of religion, and occasionally a wave of the spiritual life will roll our way. But soon the tide rolls back out, and we are still standing in the same shallow waters that only sooth our conscience for a short time. We can’t press on to the deep life with the Christ… that would force us to leave our love for the shore further behind. We cannot afford to forsake our friends, our family, our plans, our wants, ways, desires, goals, and dreams… we simply cannot afford to forsake the fleshly shore to launch out and drown in the depths of Christ’s loving call… “Come”.


Beloved, are you tired of playing games with this Christ? Let us move beyond the shallow waters we stand in, and drown our flesh in the love of Christ. Just answer the “come” call, by taking a step of faith, and letting go of the fleshly shore. Beloved, let us live in the depth of the Christian life, and not just simply be found standing in the shallows.
