This Christian life is a demanded continual walk with Christ. Backsliding isn’t just the act of committing a distinguished sin, but is the very act of stopping while Christ desires us moving forward. But I don’t wish to deal with the topic of backsliding directly today, but rather the effect of walking with the Savior.
When walking with the Savior this world should grow less and less lovely in our eyes. The closer we get to Jesus the more we should long for His coming to snatch us away from this corrupt world. The closer we walk with the Lord the less earthbound we should become. Beloved, I feel so heavy in my spirit, so ready to hear the words, “Come up hither! Come away! Come away! Come away with me, my Love.” As each day passes the more my heart longs for Home. I look around to realize that this world holds nothing for me except a chance to be the literal Life of Christ. And this is a great desire of my heart also, but at the end of the day I still long for Home with my Savior. Dear soul, I believe the closer we walk with Christ the more this mind will take a hold of our life. Let each of us ask ourselves today, “is this desire to be Home deeply gripping my heart, or am I still to earthbound? Has the beauty of this present earth become dim in comparison to where my heart dwells at? Is my heart truly dwelling in Heaven? Am I really a citizen of this grand place beyond earth? If my heart doesn’t truly long to go more and more each day then am I truly walking with the Savoir, and ready to see Him face to face?” To not move forward in longing to be Home is a great sign that you are not continually walking with the Savior, and in which is the cause of backsliding.
