In the last two writings we have seen that having a vision of who and what Christ is in the Bible is a necessity for us in our Christian walk, and also that it is through the fiery trials and test that our lives are brought to death resulting in conformity to the vision of Christ and His life being lived through us. Today I just want to write a note of encouragement to those who are going through the trial, coming to the pain of death to flesh, coming to live the life of Christ. You must have persistence! Persistence is the act of continuing steadily despite problems and difficulties. Persistence works patience in us, making us trust only God alone. Persistence is in essence holding to the act of faith. I define true faith as “throwing your total character and destiny at the feet of Christ while calmly understanding that He will only work what is best for, in and through you, and knowing He will always perform His act in His time and way.” It is simply knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that God will. “God will bring me through this valley of death! God will bring me through this fire of purifying! God will mold me into His nature and desire! God will! Knowing that He will do His will in and through me, I simply make up my mind to just keep on going with full assurance of faith that I will make it! I will make it through this battle and every other test He places me through! I will make it over every rocky mountain peak! I will make it through every fiery furnace experience! I will make it Home at the end of life’s highway, but before I get there I will make it through every situation He places me in, and I will come out more in His image in the end! I will make it!”
Beloved, have persistence! See Christ in the word, and pray to be conformed to Him as He show’s Himself to you. Be ready and thankful for the trials that bring you to death to yourself, because it is only as you die this Christ can live through you! But in all that hold faith, keeping patient persistence, remind yourself “I will make it… for He is working it all in and through me.”
