The Joy Of Being His Servant

John 12:26, “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”

Many times I have wondered how there could be any joy or pleasure in being a servant of Christ. This term from the worlds view must be one of great misunderstanding. Many people will say that serving Christ takes the “fun” out of life, and forces you to be narrow minded. The sinner doesn’t understand the joy of servitude to the Master, but I am also sure that the majority of us in the Church don’t understand either.

1- Being His servant isn’t just a command… it is an honor.
If you were to survey the carnally richest man in the world, and take question from his servants, most of them would most likely tell you that being in his environment, working under his pay, driving him in his car… even though they are simply just accommodating the master they are still with the richest man in the world… and that is a honor, even though they are just a servant. With Christ it is even more so. I don’t sit around thinking of the things I am missing while serving Christ. No! I realize that I am serving the one true God! He has called me, and entrusted me with the riches of Heaven! Sir, that is an honor! Amen.

2- By being His servant I am made to be His total responsibility.
This is the greatest thought I can imagine right now. To know that by making Christ my Lord and becoming His servant I am simply resigning myself over to His care and responsibility is an amazing thing. Those that are not servants to the Master cannot have the joy of this comfort. I see people that are so panic stricken with fear of their Christian life but such a person has never learned the joy of being His servant. By Him being my Lord I can come to understand that even the servants eat from the Masters table. I am living in His exact environment, and I have yielded to Him my life… and Christ being the Great Master of all takes all my cares and makes them His responsibility to fix. Coming to understand this truly in the heart will bring us to the Sabbath day rest spoken of in the book of Hebrews. We will trust Him when we come to true Servant hood.

Beloved, these are just a few points of the joy of being His servant, but let us never become weary in obeying… for that is what the true servant does. Only the true servant of Christ can have these priceless privileges we just spoke about. Let us serve Him!

“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
