The Key To Accepting Spiritual Strength And Victory

1 Corinthians 9:24-27, “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

Today’s writing will be very brief and direct. There may be many ways to obtain spiritual strength and victory, but looking from the Word of God, let us realize that it is actually very simple. I would like to narrow this all down into one compact word if I could do so. We don’t obtain victory and strength for this Christian walk by just simply using the modern term “taking it by faith”. We really must realize that to ever take it anything by faith, we must be obedient. To be obedient simply means we are disciplined to acting upon Gods wants. This is what Paul was writing about here in the text given above. God places us in a race, it is our part to run. “… So run that ye may obtain.” is the words that show God demands disciplined obedience. We must “keep under” this body of flesh we have, and this putting flesh to death is an obedient work, but demands discipline. So, we must comprehend the greatness of discipline in our Christian life. We cannot just pray when we feel like it… prayer is a demand of God. We cannot just study when we have nothing else to do… studying is essential to fellowship with God. We cannot just do what we want, whenever we want! This age of “I do what I want, when I want” is not to be the life of the Born Again. The Christ that lives in you fits no modern age, nor any past age… He is eternal. You don’t fit into any age. You must stand against the unbridled age of flesh that lives within you, and do what you know to be the will of God. Don’t let that flesh tell you what to do, you tell it what to do… die ! Beloved, we are not here to play patty cake with flesh… we are here to kill it. This is obedience, and obedience is faith. So I submit to you that to ever be obedient, you must be disciplined, and if you are not, then in the end you are faithless, for obedience and faith are inseparable. Let us discipline ourselves this day, to be obedient to Christ. He will only come for the faithful.
