Mustard Seed Faith

Matthew 17:14-21, “And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

I am so excited about today’s writing. As I sat with the Senior Pastors of Living Waters Church last night over an after service dinner, Pastor Duke brought to a head something that had been stirring in my heart for months. Today I feel to write it to you.

I made a statement to my girlfriend some months back that, faith is literally God. At that time the Lord had just revealed to me that He was All or all was lost. But, I was unsure about saying that God is literally faith. By the information revealed to me last night it has all been pieced together, and I can tell you that just as God is Holiness… He is Faith.

We always try and make the mustard seed faith something that we can work up. This is a dead wrong approach. Faith is not a feeling, a positive confession or a nervous twitch. You cannot work faith up within yourself. The mustard seed is the only seed that cannot be germinated with a hybrid growth. Now that simply means that the mustard seed is a seed that cannot be mixed with any other seed. Seeing this, we can understand that this is a representation of God and His purity. So when Christ says that if we could have “the faith as a grain of mustard seed” He is literally saying… “if you will die to yourself, and allow My Life to enter in… just a portion as small as a grain of mustard seed of My Life will move mountains!” Beloved, we have looked at faith, for the most part, from our fleshly view. Let us see that this Faith is God! We simply must understand that we cannot get this Faith naturally, we must pray, fast and wait before God until He gives us His Overcoming Life in that area. Faith Is God.… wait for Him, and you can move every mountain He says move.
