Will You Serve

Will You Serve
My face turning red, my blood pressure rising, it is not easy to keep your mouth shut when someone is misusing your loved ones. Hate filled eyes glaring into mine, “where is the love from these people?” I ask myself under my breath. Starting to let my tongue slip I hear the voice of my FiancĂ©e calling me to leave. Being somewhat sensitive to the moment I slowly turn and walk away trying to hold my peace, but inwardly saying just what I think. As I slowly trod to the car my hurt feelings from the harsh words makes me even want to speak my thoughts more. “They think I walked away from them because I didn’t have anything to say! I probably appear as a whipped puppy in their eyes by walking away and not standing up to them.” I think in my fleshly mind. Over the drive I begin to calm down when finally, I pause from my thoughts to think upon His. Then He speaks… “To lose a battle in the eyes of your enemy is to win a battle in the eyes of God.” I then realize that the appropriate place for a true Christian is in servitude. To be humble enough to shut up when needed. No matter how misused you are in body, we must remember we are still servants. And servants never say harsh words to their masters. Beloved, will you shrink your Christian pride and love of self to the small form of a servant today? To serve your enemy or your friend is the same demand of God. While being a servant we truly show the Life of Christ, and in the end He serves us.
