Considering Jesus - His Rest In The Storm

Going across a lake was never a big deal to all of us. Most of us have been fishermen all of our lives. But this particular day what was planned to be just a simple trip across the lake turned into miracle, to say the least. We had known Jesus for a short time and been called by Him to even be disciples but we never knew Him in the sense He showed that day. He said for us to go to the other side of the lake and when He climbed into the boat He fell asleep. As we launched out further getting about midway to the other side almost instantly a terrible storm came and everyone of us thought we would drown. As the lightning and thunder sparked panic into our hearts, overriding the voice of faith, we began to agree with the power of the storm that it was going to bring us to death. But finally… someone called on Jesus!! When we awoke Him from His deep rest He was seemingly upset at us. He immediately cast the death of the storm away and brought its life threatening power to nothing. Amazement took hold of our hearts! We had never ever seen such ability before! But then He looked at all of us right in the eyes. I could sense He was hurt by something we had done. Then He said, “Why are you so scared? Do you still not have faith?” As He sat back down everyone talking in wonder of His powerful work, but I had always wondered how He was able to rest in such a death filled storm! Over the years I finally found out that it is because He knew He didn’t say anything that His Father didn’t tell Him to say, and He told us to go to the other side. We should have been able to just believe that if He said it He will work it. I wish I would have rested next to the Lord in this time, but I tell you this story so you will rest with Him when your storm comes. Beloved, trust Him. He will always perform what He said to do. Never fear. Just find His rest in your storm.
