Lord, I Lost The Sparkle Of My Eye & The Wife’s Note: Hope For The Hopeless
As I was reading yesterday I came to Psalms, chapter 13. Reading through the verses I soon felt a touch in verse 3, which says, “Turn and answer me, O LORD my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.” (New Living Translation).
Have you ever felt, as I often have lately, that somehow through the pace of life you lost the true fellowship you once enjoyed with your Beloved and you? Reading the touching words of King David has showed me that at some point we all come to a place where the light or “sparkle” of our eyes grows dim. Our vision of who He truly is becomes impaired by the enticing pleasures of this present world. Sinning and falling short becomes inevitable for we no longer hold the true value of life in our grasp. I will be among the first to admit that I have at time lost the sparkle of my eye. I have become weary of my own self and in frustration somehow lost the sight of Christ my heart truly depends upon. I am here to say along with the mighty King David, “Lord, I am sorry... but I have lost the vision of you, the true sparkle of my eye. Please restore my sight of you once more! Allow me to have the Godly countenance which speaks without words that you dwell in me. Lord, restore the life which makes me tick! Restore the sparkle of my eye today.”
The Wife’s Note: Hope For The Hopeless
This world today is full of troubles and trials. We have homes that are broken apart. We have murders and robbery’s everywhere. We have kids without a loving mother and father. We have people without a home or shelter. We have people going hungry. We have wars raging. We have the economy that is basically crumbling apart. All in all there is trouble around every corner. When we begin to really think about this world and it’s current condition it can seem so hopeless. But praise be to God that we have hope!
I have often thought about Paul and Silas when they were thrown in prison. If anyone could have felt hopeless it would be them. But instead of dwelling on the trouble around them they sang praises to the Lord. I put myself in their shoes. Could I have held on like they did? Could you? Problems are raging all around us and I know at times the word hopeless has crossed your mind. But when you begin to feel overwhelmed remember Paul and Silas. The word of God did not hold their accounts in there for no reason. The same God that was there with Paul and Silas is the same God we serve today! How wonderful is that? There is hope for the hopeless and his name is Jesus Christ.
