Who's Calling The Shots & The Wife's Note:Remember Christ

The following devotional was originally posted in October of 2009. As always I pray that as you read this your heart is once more convinced to place Christ first with the thought "Who's Calling The Shot's".

Ever been in the place where you feel like stopping? It's not that you want to leave God and backslide but, just out of exhaustion you want to stop fighting for a day or two. You've been fighting the flesh and Satan for what feels like forever, only to find yourself where it seems like you're in the same place where you started. Trying not to doubt God, you go to prayer again and ask "Lord can I really win this battle? I feel so empty! I have no more strength! I used all my spiritual ammo! I'm not feeling your help anymore!! I've prayed and read my Bible faithfully but I have no more battle tactics. Lord I don't have nothing else."

I think all true Christians have gone through that sometime or another. We feel like Uriah when king David wrote and told Joab, in 2 Sam. 11:15 " put him in the front of the hardest hottest battle, then pull back and let him fight alone so he will die sooner and be out of my way!"

Although it's easy to feel that way toward God, we must remember He loves us and, as 1 Corinth. 10:13 says " but God is faithful, who will not suffer or permit us to be tempted above that we are able."

As you know God is flawless and king David was not. Although we feel like Uriah, alone and in the front of the worst battle we have ever been in, we are not. Christ is there and can easily win our battle but we must stop putting our trust in our ways and weapons and, do nothing but trust in Him and fight on!

Know He loves you greatly and will take care of you if you let Him. So don't stop fighting weary soilder! Just stop trying to lead! Let Christ call the shots.

Isa. 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The Wife's Note: Remember Christ
Ever wonder why am i here? Why am i having to continually deal with the same situation over and over again? Why do i try so hard only to get negative outcome? Why can't this situation just be over? Doesn't God see me trying?

I wonder those things quite often myself but, I'm coming to the realization that any situation that i am in God is allowing me to be there. He allows the trials and situations to come because he wants me to be more like him. Even if it means we have to go through them for a while. It is a test. Will i respond with love and compassion doing what christ would do? Or will i respond in a fleshly manner? Will i show grace and mercy like he does for me so often? Or will i turn my head never to give grace or mercy a thought? The easy thing to do would be to allow flesh to have control but, the right thing to do and what i choose to always strive to do is to remember Christ.

Things may seem rough and hard at the moment, but it will only last as long as God wants it too. And know this when it is all over and the battle has been won you my friend will be more like Him. Just choose to remember Christ and all he stands for!
