The Wife's Note: Listen To His Voice

First off I would like to apologize for not writing last week. Buddy’s parents have just recently taken over a church to pastor and things with the church have been very busy. We had our first youth meeting Friday which Buddy, Jacob, and myself are in charge of. We are also in charge of the youth Sunday school. Our lesson this past Sunday was a little different than your average Sunday school lesson. Buddy, Jake, and myself set up this rather large maze in our Sunday school room downstairs and all throughout this maze we posted signs that read different things like: cussing, pride, doubt, lust, un-christlike movies and tv, un-christlike music, and so on. The back wall behind the kids was labeled death and the wall in front of them where a cross stood was labeled heaven. Buddy played the role of Jesus and the key to this maze was simply this LISTEN & TRUST THE VOICE OF THE LORD and you will make it through just fine. So this is what we did we had the kids start on the back wall labeled death. We blind folded them, spun them around as if we were playing pin the tail on the donkey and then told them to go. Now while the kids were trying to get through Buddy was at the other end(playing the role of Jesus) while Jake and myself played the roles of the devil and the discourager and we followed each kid through the maze trying to distract them and get them to listen to us rather than Buddy. If they were to listen to us they would fall, run into walls, or trip up but each thing they would trip over or run into was all labeled with those different things I listed above such as cussing and pride. Oh and also if Jake and I were not enough of a distraction we had the kids waiting for their turn to go yell things out to distract them too. Surprisingly, most of the kids made it through just fine with only minor injuries(just kidding) they all did very well only stumbling here and there on the things we had laid out before them. But it was all to show them how those little things do have an impact on your walk with Christ whether it be a bad word here and there or a bad relationship but if they were to listen to Christ(buddy) they would make it through life(maze) just fine but only if they listened and trusted in the lord. I told you about this tonight not to just fill you in on what is going on with our youth but to show you how easy it is to listen not only to satan himself but our friends, co workers, family and so on who can sometimes be a distraction when the Lord is trying to lead us where he would have us to be. It is so hard sometimes to listen to that sweet voice of the Lord when you have all these other distractions around you. And sometimes we do feel as if we are blind folded and we can’t see what is before us BUT… if we trust in HIM & LISTEN too HIM everything will be just fine. I am thankful not only for the youth group and the Sunday school class we had but for the trust we can put in HIM. So I would like to leave you with a verse today Proverbs 3:(5-6) says “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” God Bless!
