Just Believe On Me

In the Gospel of John, we find in the fourteenth chapter, some of the most beautiful words from our Savior. Here we find Him seated with His disciples, as they was so broken hearted and confused, for He had just told them that he was to leave them in a short time.

Picture this in your mind, Jesus and those He loved, was all setting around the table. They had broke the bread, they had drank the wine, then from the Saviors month, you hear Him say, “I must leave you. But it is necessary that I go. It is for your better that I go away.” Try to imagine being one of these disciples, you look up from the table, and into the eyes of the one you had left everything for. The only one you had in your life that mattered. They loved this man called Jesus! They had left their known life, forsook it all, just to be near Him. And then to hear Him say that He had to go away. This was crushing to their heart. But in all there pain and confusion, Jesus speaks these beautiful words of promise and comfort, “John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” He is in other words saying, “I have taught you to believe on God, to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that He is all power, all knowing, and God of the universe, but now… believe on me as you do He. For I have come, for the purpose of death. I have come to leave. But to leave with you a way through me to get to God. And, beloved, to believe totally on me, is how you can get to God. So don’t fear! No! I must go. It is better for you. Just put all your trust on me, and in me. I do all this for you.”

Beloved, He is still speaking these words to us today. Cant you hear Him, in your crashing, and roaring storm of life, “Believe on me! Believe on me! Don’t be afraid! Just believe on me!”
