As I was meditating upon Christ last night, I began to think about how He, being known as the Great Shepherd, took upon Himself the nature of the sinful sheep, and allowed Himself to be murdered for our sins. And as I began to think about how wonderful a Savior He is, I began to fill His love so strong. I had to stop what I was doing, and fall to my knees, and just do nothing but love Him.
John 1:29, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
How amazing! The Son of God, took upon Himself the nature of a Lamb, that we may have a way to God. He became the sacrifice for our sins. He became not only the High Priest, but also the Offering. He became so helpless to Himself, to give me His help. All though He was completely sinless, He took upon Himself, my sins, for I could not bear the burden myself. He was the Supreme Example of Authority, but He took upon Himself the powerless nature of a man. He was known as the Almighty Son Of God, but He was driven up a hill, and nailed to a borrowed cross. His life was more pure than the white fleece of a humble lamb. He was in no points faulted, but took, in all points, our faults. He let the sinners whip Him, tear His flesh, lead Him as a bound Lamb, to the alter, to drive nails in His Holy hands and feet, but all the while He held His peace as just a mute Lamb. At any given moment He could have called ten thousands of angels to come and take the burden from Him, but He took it like a Lamb. He never railed back at the cursing and mockery, but rather, He looked into the hearts of men through beaten, and bloody eyes, filled with love. He took death, that I may live. He became the Lamb of sacrifice for all sins. In the old covenant, the Lamb was to die for the Shepherd, but under the new covenant, the Shepherd made Himself equal with the sheep, and died for all those lost. Why would I not love Him? I wish I could really describe Him, but He surpasses the greatness of human vocabulary. He expels all knowledge of the greatest human mind. I know Him as Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Savior of the world, the Precious Lamb of God that died for my sins, and rose on the third day, that I may live in Him, and He may Live through me. This is Christ Jesus, the Precious Lamb Of God… my best friend. Beloved, …do you know Him as this also?
