To remain from great length of writing, let me just jump straight to the point. The simple fact is this, beloved, …the priceless privilege of truly knowing Christ… will cost you everything. In Philippians 3:7-8, we read the great writer, Paul, saying this, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”
Paul is in essence saying, “everything that was before honorable, and everything that was before great and glorious for me, is lost for Christ. I look at every earthly thing as being totally worthless. And therefore if being worthless, it is nothing but a small thing to lay aside, when compared to having such a priceless privilege of truly knowing Christ this conquering King. Everything that I have suffered, everything that I have had to lay aside, and the death of my flesh… although it may seem great… is only like trash… when compared to how much I gain by the effect of it. I give my all… and have the priceless gift in return.”
We must die out to flesh, beloved! We must stop going back to the flesh, and simply count it all as trash, and a waist. For our flesh will only take us to hell… but when we die out to flesh daily… and let Christ live His life through us… we will know the Glory of Christ on earth, and also live in His Glory in Heaven, along with the Father! But do see, beloved, the gift of Christ does cost us our own life… but this isn’t bad! In fact it is great! For when we die to our flesh, (our own ways and wants) … we gain His life. And to know Him in such a way, is a priceless privilege!
