Marrying The Word

I was jokingly talking with my friend the other day about how much I love my bible. “Isn’t it pretty?” I said laughing. “I love it so much that I think I could marry it if it were possible.” As she laughed and I began to think of my crazy statement I had just spoken out of fun, I was hit with the thought of John 1:1-2, reading like this, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” Realizing that it wasn’t my bible in the physical that I felt such a love for but that it is the Life that its pages contain that I so deeply hold near, the Life of Christ Jesus “the Word.” Then I began to think about how we are called to be the Bride of Christ and we are awaiting His return for us, to take us to the wedding on that blessed day. But we must fall in love with this Christ now or else we will not be going with Him in the rapture. We come to love and know this Christ through the written word and through the Holy Spirit. So today I would like to just provoke you to fall in love with “the Word” so that on that day when He calls His Bride to the marriage supper you will find your joy in the fullest. Lay all else aside and lay into the word. Come to know this Christ as the fullest express nature of God the Father as “the Word” and fall into His Grace. Await the call “come up hither” this blessed Christ will give His Bride on that great day. Pray on! Press on! Hope on! He will call and the Bride will be with “the Word” that we have come to know through the bible so greatly. Let the love of Christ surround you. Marry “the Word” by coming into total conformity to the word in every action.
