Whatever is in your heart will at some point in your life be exposed. In Matthew 12:35, Jesus says, “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” He is speaking to the religious crowd while speaking this and the verse before He calls them vipers saying that they are evil and trying to speak good things and it doesn’t work “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
Seeing that Christ was speaking to the religious of that day, I believe we can apply this to the religious in our Church world today as well. We have many people walking in the Church today saying “Lord, Lord” with their lips and tongue, but they use the same lips and tongue to rip their pastor down. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” This is the offspring of vipers just as that religious crowd was that Christ was speaking to that day. We have them come in and sit on the platform and sing praise to a God they don’t know because they are more concerned about Sister Mable and Brother Marble that sits on the front row when they should be in the back of the Church watching their kids! No! Let Sister Mable and Brother Marble sit where they will, if you sit on the platform talking such trash as that you need to be in the altar watching your tongue more than they need to be in the back watching their kids. You see, the sin isn’t that you talk bad about people; the sin is that wrong feeling in your heart that is manifesting itself through your life that claims to be Christ-like and making you talk bad about someone. It is a heart issue. Get that heart right with God and you will not be talking bad about Sister Mable and Brother Marble “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
Christ knew that the same religious crowd that was in front of Him now would be the same ones that would yell “Give us Barabbas! Crucify Him!” If you think you have got your heart right with God and you talk bad about people, or you allow your words to cut someone out of your hatefulness then you better examine your heart because something is terribly wrong. What is in the heart will manifest itself through your body, and if mean words that cut others down is what comes from your lips then Christ isn’t the total life of your heart and you are yelling “Give us Barabbas!” Let us get this heart rapture ready.
