Grace is so often painted as the get out of hell free card that is used whenever a sin is committed, but o how much lovelier Grace is than just getting what we want from God. I can honestly say that I am thankful God has not just given me all that I want when I asked. My life would be in shear shambles if God would have given me my wants. Grace stands in our moments of foolishness and looks into the future that He desires for us and says, “No son, trust me.”
James 4:3-6, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
If we can allow God to keep us on our face, humbled before Him, we can live in the place of continual Grace, being led by the Holy Spirit to the fulfilling the Life of Christ. If we can allow Him to keep us humble we will never become the enemy of God, asking for our wants of flesh. Ask God to keep you humble so that you may live in the place of more grace daily.
