Beloved, so many times we take the mindset that if we do more for God, if we run faster, go further, and become God’s number one Christian He is bound to bless us in the Kingdom. We think that if we give 25% instead of 10 God will pull us up in the spiritual ranks. Dear ones, I know many times we do these things out of a sincere heart, and I have to believe that God must sometime chuckle as we begin to run and work to do things that is vain to His purpose of calling us. It isn’t that the things we are doing is at all wrong, but I have found the truest definition of sin is simply being anywhere that God isn’t. We don’t have to drink beer to backslide, just stop when He is moving or run ahead when He is stopped. God doesn’t need you to try an be an overachiever. In fact, God is most likely pleading with your heart to stop trying to make yourself a Christian. He will soon allow an insurmountable trial come along your way to show you that it is Him that must work His Life in you or else you are just a religious worker, with hell as a destiny. This Christian Life isn’t just hard for us… it is totally impossible. Just as we could never save ourselves in the first place, we can never bring ourselves nearer God in the flesh. It is all truly found in us simply placing our flesh filled life to death, so He may become our Life greater and work His continual salvation plan in us.
Take time today and stop being so religious, trying to do something grand to gain brownie points in the Kingdom. Realize Christ is that Kingdom of God, and everything you do absent from the leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit is flesh, and no matter how wonderful those deeds done may be… God promised that no flesh shall glory in His presence. The only thing good enough for the Kingdom is His very own Life being Lived through you, governing and molding your every move. So forget religion, and find relationship. Take time to hear His voice, then dare to follow where He request’s. Just stay in Him at all times and He will always be pleased. Don’t outrun Him and don’t linger behind Him… just be yielded… for no overachievers gain ground with God… only the Spirit-governed please Him.
