The Truth Is The Life

Ephesians 6:14,“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth…”

Having studied pictures of the ancient war armor, I was very interested to see that the belt was often referred to as the basis of all the other armor. Now, do understand that this was not merely a belt that holds your pants up as we have today, but a very uncomfortable piece of hard steel or something of that nature, that was to be put on like our modern undergarments. In some instances the belt would very according to nations and different warriors taste of battle I am sure. But my point is this, the “belt of truth” as the most understanding method makes our text to say, has to be the foundation of the armor. Why? Because just as in the bible days, the rest of the armor would depend upon that belt being in place in our Spiritual life. It was crucial for battle. In this Christian life, we base everything off of only one thing… that is Christ. Beloved, He says, “I Am the way, the truth, and the life.” It is often true that by basing every single thing we come in contact with through this journey, things can get uncomfortable. Many times I look at a situation and it would be easier to base my choice off of something other than the truth, but I want to reaffirm my point to you, Christ is our Life, and we must be clothed with Him and realize He is The Truth that is to be to the belt of truth spoken of by the great writer. Amen. So by this we see that every other part of the armor is based on us coming to the realization that Christ is the Truth, and everything else… even our own selves, is nothing more than lies. I am a liar… but He is the Truth that is my Life. John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Christ is that Truth, reveled to us through the enduing of the Holy Spirit. Christ says in John 16:13-14, “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come. He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall show it unto you.” The Holy Spirit comes as the fullness of the nature of God expressed to, and in us when we are emerged in His presence. He comes, and makes Christ alive and formed in us. So it is essential that we be filled continually with the Spirit, that the Truth can be our shield of Life as well. Beloved, make sure the Truth is in place with your garment of armor tonight… for the Truth is the Life.
