When Christ Is In His Temple

As we look through the New Testament scripture, everywhere we see Christ we see where there was a life changing experience that would occur in someone’s life. He never came to a place and left it the same. When Christ would go to the temple, He never left the temple the way He found it. We read where after His fasting in the wilderness He came to the temple and publicly declared with His own voice that He was the fullness of all scripture.

Luke 4:17-21, “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”

Beloved, Christ being the “fullness of the Godhead bodily” came to the temple to give a revelation of Himself, but the scripture tells us what the people did… “And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.” Luke 4:28-29.

When Christ comes to the temple, He always brings all eyes on Himself. We don’t serve a backseat God, but He demands all preeminence. When He comes to the temple He always brings a revelation of Himself.

Sometimes He was cast out of the temple, or sometimes He was casting out of the temple. We read in John chapter 2:13-16 where Jesus came with the purging power.

“And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.”

Christ always has to drive something out of the temple before He can fill that place with Himself.

Beloved, by looking at the scriptures given, I would like to now point to one other verse. 1 Corinthians 6:19, “… know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…”

Beloved, Christ will never come to His temple without changing it for the better. Don’t get upset when He comes with the purging power, casting out your roots of evil that linger in your heart. When He comes breaking up your religious mold with the personal revelation of Himself… don’t cast Him out of your life and hold on to your religion. Allow Christ to do in you what needs to be done to bring you to that spotless temple He may dwell in. And just a small note here to the weary Christian that may feel as if Christ has left you unchanged though you seek His Life… take courage, for He never allows the temple to stay the same once He enters. If you will keep trusting Him to do His mighty work, you can rest in faith believing Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” O Yes, when Christ is in His temple… it will never be the same. His work in us (the temple) is a lifelong work, don’t cast Him out… choose to let Him fill you with Himself, continually molding you into His image.
